Phytogram workshop at Monte da Ervilha with Juliana Julieta
Spring and Monte da Ervilha serve as starting points for an exploration of experimental cinema as a relational practice. This phytogram workshop will use organic materials—flowers, leaves, and fruits collected on site—to imprint their shapes and chemical properties directly onto 16mm and 35mm film stock.
It is an experimental and non-toxic process, carried out in daylight, which allows an intimate approach to the landscape and its plants, exploring them on a microscopic cellular scale.
This approach allows us to discover the landscape on an intimate and sensory scale, where direct contact between plant matter and photosensitive emulsion reveals dimensions invisible to the everyday gaze.
Each image is the result of a unique encounter between plants, light, temperature, humidity, and time—a process in which the material itself actively participates in what is revealed.
The session is intended as a space for sharing and collective experimentation around the possibilities of alternative development, where creating images also becomes a way of relating to the place and the elements that constitute it.
